For CEO May Habib and CTO Waseem AlShikh, language has always been at the core of what they do. Both grew up in non English-speaking households, and it shaped their belief that the language you were born speaking shouldn’t impact the kind of life you end up leading. If they could help people be more effective communicators, they figured, they could help them unleash their full potential.
For over ten years, May and Waseem have been hard at work on complex language problems. In 2013, they started a company that built software to localize content dynamically. It’s in the machine translation world where they first started working with transformers. In 2020, May and Waseem combined this experience with their knowledge of natural language processing and enterprise customer requirements to start Writer. Writer’s research, applied engineering and AI, and GTM teams have a single goal: to build AI that puts human potential and flourishing at the core. Today, the Writer platform is the easiest, fastest way for enterprises to build generative AI applications, and Writer has helped over 1 million users adopt AI in their daily work.
